Welcome all Kindergarten Grandparents!!!

Join us for a Grandparents’ Day luncheon – Friday 9/9.  Our lunch time is at 11:15.  Check in at the office and meet us in the lunchroom.  After lunch, Grandparents may join their grandchild in the library for free reading time (background checks are required).  Hope to see lots of grandparents joining us.  In years past, we have had a great turn out and I expect we will see it that way again.  Lunch for adults will be $3.00.

Hurray, hurray! You're a kindergartener...at last!

Dear Kinder Kiddos (and families of kindergarteners),

I was so please to have the opportunity to meet many of you at Meet the Teacher tonight!  I have been waiting all summer long to meet you, and I can't wait to take you on the most wonderful learning adventures this year!  Get excited--we are going to be reading oodles of the BEST books ever written, conducting fun science experiments, writing and illustrating books just like real authors, solving all kinds of puzzling math problems, and all along the way we'll be dancing, singing, laughing, and having a GREAT time learning together!  Some of you may have butterflies flapping around in your little bellies! (Moms and Dads too!) Don't worry.  Kindergarten is going to be a BLAST!  I promise.  I am looking forward to Monday and can't wait to kick off the new year!

Love,
Mrs. Dilldine

Retail Therapy

Wow, it is only June and I am already buying up a bunch of wonderful stuff for my classroom.  This may not be a good sign, since I will probably spend to much money by the time school actually starts.  I found this oh so cute monster decor that I thought I just had to have.  I couldn't decide so I bought it all.  Ooops! hide it from the husband. :-) I also made a trip to the dollar tree and found lots of flashcards for a center.  All you parents out there, this is a wonderful thing to have to practice at home.  They have numbers, shapes, colors, and alphabet.  Go grab you some for just a dollar!

Bug Swat Center Game

Just been blog hopping looking for fun things to put in my centers this next year.  I ran across this cute game that I plan on making.  Found it over at www.ilovekindergarten.com, it is called the Bug Swat Game.
I can't wait to share it with the kid in August and all year long.Bug Game:  This is an adaptation of an idea I got from Dr. Jean.  The children play this in groups of 3's.  One child reads one of the sight words off of a "bug card".  The other two children try to be the first to slap that bug with a fly swatter.  They LOVE this game!  the game board is made on a shower curtain.
